Description
PRODUCER NOTE:
The Botti family has owned the 20 hectare vineyard for more than 80 years. The vineyard is situated in the southerly part of the Maconnais in the heart of the Lamartine area. St Veran is produced entirely from Chardonnay grapes and the vines are planted in clay and chalky soils and have a south easterly exposure.
VINEYARD:
Saint-Veran is an appellation for dry white wines produced in the southern half of the Mâconnais subregion of Burgundy. Due to its southerly location, the climate in the SaintVeran area is slightly warmer than other parts of Burgundy. Consequently spring frosts, which can threaten vines in cooler Burgundy appellations, are less of a danger here. The Domaine Botti vineyard soils are made up of limestone in which the Chardonnay grapes flourish and produce an elegant style of wine.
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were carefully selected, destemmed and then pneumatically pressed. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled tanks at 18°C in order to preserve the primary aromas. The wine was kept in stainless steel tanks to maintain the purity of fruit.
TASTING NOTE:
A delicate wine with fresh citrus nose and a distinctive minerality. The creamy palate is harmoniously balanced and echoes the mineral notes from the nose, combined with ripe citrus fruits and a crisp, clean finish.
