Cyprus
Cyprus belongs very much in the group of Old World wine producing countries chronologically, but its attitude and recent changes puts it with a New World crowd.
Everything seems poised for Cyprus to become one of Europe’s rising stars; young dynamic winemakers, the mountain range terroir from the Troodos Mountains, exciting indigenous grape varieties and a perfect climate. Add in the 6,000-year history and Cyprus has the potential to develop wines of outstanding quality.
The combination of tradition and modern technology epitomises the wines being made by Minas Mina at Kyperounda Winery, or as Jancis Robinson describes; “Kyperounda is one of the small groups of more forward-thinking wine producers on this island”.
