Description
PRODUCER:
This 18-hectare family-owned winery is located among lush vineyards at the banks of the Rhine River in the heart of the most important Riesling growing region in the world. The vineyards extend from Rüdesheim to Hochheim. Different slope angles, soil substrates, and microclimates produce unique and complex wines. Great emphasis is placed on professional care, environmental responsibility and care for the grapevines, to produce wines of the highest quality. Wines are offered in the “Rhinegau flute“, which is an elegant, antique-green flask with bevelled edges
VINEYARD:
The Rheingau region, where the Villa Gutenberg vineyards are located, extends from the ‘Mainspitze’’ near Hochheim to the Middle Rhine, beyond Rüdesheim. This small growing region that encompasses an area of around 3,000 hectares of vineyards is protected from the chilly winds by the Taunus Mountains immediately to the north. Most of the Rheingau’s vineyards are situated on south-facing slopes between the mountains and the Rhine River, which provide excellent growing conditions in these northerly latitudes for the vines. For years was regarded as Germany’s noblest wine region. Various soil types from clay to quartz, loam and loess add complexity to the resulting wine.
WINEMAKING:
A cool fermentation was conducted using selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and primary aromas of the Riesling grapes.
TASTING NOTE:
A lively and delicate off-dry wine with a slight pétillance and a heady sensation of apple, pear, peach and honey on the nose. Beautifully balanced, with a fruity palate featuring citrus notes and floral nuances.
GRAPES:
Riesling 100%.
