England
England is now home to well over 500 vineyards in all parts of the country, and is now seeing land bought by overseas wine producers.
The surge of quality sparkling wines is in part due to the soil in the South of England bearing close resemblance to the Champagne region. Now, English winemakers are producing a full range of still and sparkling wines that are growing in popularity across the globe.
Our English portfolio stretches across the south of the UK, from Sussex to Essex and Kent, where Simpsons Wine Estate produce their range of wines from predominantly Burgundian clones. From the railway arches in Battersea, Blackbook Winery produces their cutting edge wines. Sourcing fruit from vineyards close to London, Blackbook has created an enviable range of wines that have got the critics talking.
Ridgeview Wine Estate is a family-run winery with a focus on sustainability, they have been producing industry-leading sparkling wine in the South Downs since 1995. We are also delighted to add to our portfolio this year Hoffmann & Rathbone, a boutique winery in Sussex, where husband and wife team craft sparkling wines aged for long periods, with care and patience, resulting in a stunning range of wines with a quirky English personality.
