Germany
Viticulture in present-day Germany dates back to Ancient Roman times, to sometime from 70 to 270 AD and is regarded today as one of the classic wine producing countries.
Renowned for its world-class Riesling, growing 60% of the world’s crop, the elegant wines are made predominately in the west of the country along the river Rhine. These wine regions are some of the world’s most Northerly allowing cool climate grapes to flourish.
Schloss Johannisberg has a 1,000 year history in the Rheingau and is known as the world’s first Riesling estate and a birthplace of late-harvest wine. Today, the winery continues its legacy with some of the best Riesling bottlings in the world, modernising its winemaking approaches while keeping a consistently excellent quality and style in its products.
