ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Cantina Tramin was founded in 1898 and has 310 member winegrowers who adhere to its strict directives on vine cultivation. The vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of Northern Italy and cover 260 hectares situated on the sunny slopes of the region at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 metres above sea level. In 2011, Cantina Tramin gained the “Double Stella” award – an extraordinary achievement, which is given to a winery for being awarded the prestigious “3 Bicchieri” 20 times by Gambero Rosso.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The grapes used for this wine come from the Südtirol, in the Alto Adige DOC. The vineyards are situated at altitudes of between 350 and 450 metres above sea level and are planted in soils which are made up of gravel and calcareous clay. The vines yield 55 hectolitres per hectare. The combination of soils and abundant sunshine give this wine a unique taste and detail. The grapes are manually harvested.

THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes were macerated at controlled temperatures of 26°C with daily stirring and submersion of the cap in order to increase the levels of extraction from the grape skins. Fermentation and ageing took place in a combination of French barriques, oak casks and stainless steel vats for at least six months.

OUR TASTING NOTE:
Pale in colour, this young and sophisticated Pinot Noir with wild strawberry, pomegranate and cherry underpinned by mountain herbs. The balanced palate is framed by a good tannic structure through to an elegant finish.

GRAPE VARIETY:
Pinot Nero 100%.
