ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
What a great concept – a Tour of the South of France – get out the vélo and let’s join the touriste-routiers! But why be part of the peloton when you can attack from the front, and make wine which really matters and offer wine lovers liberté de choix? Hence, among the delights on offer here is a beautiful Picpoul de Pinet – the fish wine, a vivacious Sauvignon Blanc, an elegant and wonderfully balanced Viognier, a smooth and becoming Pinot Noir and a deliciously juicy Merlot.

THE VINTAGE:
The 2024 in the Languedoc was a dry vintage, but without overly warm days, allowing the grapes to benefit from a long hang time in order to reach maturity. This encouraged beautiful balance and wonderful aromatic expression in the grapes.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The fruit is sourced from hillside vineyards in the Pays d’Oc. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, with the majority of rainfall occurring during the spring and autumn. Dry, continental winds from the northwest bring cooling influences to the vineyards, which help to reduce disease pressure. This wind is interspersed with warm winds from the south, which bring moisture to the vines. Each vineyard site has its own terroir characteristics which add subtle complexity to the resulting wine.

THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes were picked once they had reached optimum maturity. The grapes were destemmed and crushed before undergoing a 12-day maceration to allow the colour, flavour and aromas to be extracted. Fermentation took place with selected yeasts using traditional techniques in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine went through malolactic conversion, which rounded out the palate. Carefully blended with a small proportion of other varieties to create a wine of harmonious balance, the final blend was made in an unoaked style, in order to let the purity of the fruit shine through.

OUR TASTING NOTES:
A juicy Merlot from the South of France offering fresh notes of ripe plum and vibrant red fruits. Easy and approachable in style, it has a fleshy palate and smooth, silky tannins.

GRAPE VARIETY:
Merlot 85%, Other Varieties 15%.
