Description
PRODUCER:
In 1962, nineteen vine growers from San Marzano combined their efforts to establish “Cantine San Marzano”. Over the years, the cooperative has grown significantly and now comprises over 1200 vine growers. They are now one of the most professional, forward-thinking companies in Southern Italy, with a reputation for producing great wines. Their production philosophy is simple but uncompromising; “passion” and “competence” are the bywords at the heart of their everyday activity.
VINEYARD:
Talò is a common surname in San Marzano, and choosing it to name the Talò range collectively acknowledges the farmers of the village who, with their families, look after each vineyard as if it were their own garden. San Marzano recognises the contribution their producers make, with whom they work closely to achieve the best from their land. The outstanding quality of these wines could not be created without them. The vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia, at approximately 100 metres above sea level. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks, making it an ideal growing location for vines. The harvest takes place during the second week of September.
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were carefully selected and then underwent temperature-controlled fermentation at 25 to 26°C with selected yeasts, lasting approximately 10 days. The wine was matured in French and American oak barrels for a period of six months.
TASTING NOTE:
A rich and opulent wine with vibrant flavours of ripe cherries and plums combined with subtle overtones of cocoa and vanilla. Velvety and textured with brambly fruits on the palate and a warm finish, this packs a punch of flavour.
GRAPES:
Primitivo 100%.
