ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
The Parpinello family has run this 35-hectare estate and winery with dedication and passion for three generations. Giampaolo Parpinello and his son Paolo strive to reflect the Sardinian terroir and reveal the typicity of the wines. The vineyard is situated on a gentle slope between Alghero and Sassari in the northwest of the island. In order to reflect this typicity, modern winemaking technology is successfully combined with traditional farming methods, resulting in high-quality wines with intense aromas and flavours.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
Ala Blanca means white wing in Italian. “Here come the white wings” the children would cry as they watched the seagulls fly over the vineyard. Vermentino is the main white grape cultivated in Sardinia. It is presumed to have Spanish origins, but has found its ideal setting in the north of Sardinia, where it can fully express its distinctive characteristics. The climate is Mediterranean, with frequent north-westerly winds, which help to reduce disease pressure in the vineyard. The vineyard is located on gentle slopes between Alghero and Sassari, where the Guyot-trained vines are planted on American rootstocks at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare. The vineyard is made up of two main soil types: sandy soils are located close to the sea, which are poor in nutrients, but offer good water retention. The grapes here ripen perfectly and offer a distinctive saline note to the wine. The other is a limestone soil mixed with calcareous stone, which is richer and produces elegant and structured wines.

THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes underwent short pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation took place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit and lasted 15 days. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for three months on its fine lees, with gentle lees stirring taking place every 10 days. This wine did not undergo malolactic conversion, retaining the natural, crisp style.

OUR TASTING NOTE:
A full-flavoured, dry wine, offering elegant aromas of ripe tropical fruits, citrus zest and subtle herbal nuances surrounding a fully textured palate and a delicious hint of almond on the finish.

GRAPE VARIETY:
Vermentino 100%.
