Description
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
The fruit for Les Petits Faiteaux comes from a vineyard surrounding the charming village of Noyers-sur Cher, 40 miles east of Tours in the heart of the Touraine appellation. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, respecting the soil’s ecosystem and the biodiversity of the vineyard. This cuvée beautifully captures the essence of Sauvignon de Touraine, showcasing purity of fruit with characteristic mineral nuances.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The vineyard is located in the east side of la Vallée de la Loire, between Amboise and Chéverny, in the heart of the Appellation of Touraine. Benefitting from a warm climate during the summer months, this microclimate helps the grapes to achieve full their ripening potential. The soil is predominantly sand and silex, the latter imparts the characteristic flinty notes of the region. The fruit is machine harvested at optimal maturity to retain freshness.
THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes were crushed and underwent a 36 hour débourbage or settling, before being traditionally vinified at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place with wild yeasts. The wine was aged on its fine lees for four months imparting texture and complexity before being bottled. This cuvée was made in an unoaked style to express the purity of fruit and the nuances of the terroir.
