Description
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Château Lestrille is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux. Passionate and dedicated winemaker Estelle Roumage makes modern, elegant wines from sustainably cultivated grapes. Estelle believes the essence of winemaking lies in the vineyard itself, placing considerable emphasis on respecting the balance of the soil. The vines have been cultivated organically since 2019, and the estate has been certified organic since the 2023 vintage. Each plot on the 45-hectare property is vinified separately with tailor-made precision and minimal intervention to respect and optimise the characteristics of the vintage and terroir, creating charming wines with the utmost appeal.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The vineyards are managed using sustainable viticultural practices. The utmost respect is given to the balance between the vines, their natural environment and the soil. These cool clay and silt soils provide good water retention and impart a powerful quality to the final wine. This cuvée is made from plots which produce the fruitiest Merlot.
THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes were picked at the optimum maturity levels. Fermentation took place with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, retaining the characteristics of Merlot while also preserving the essence of the terroir. This wine was bottled after 12 months of ageing in stainless steel vats.
TASTING NOTE:
A fresh, aromatic unoaked Merlot showing vibrant aromas of ripe, soft plum and cherry. Beautifully structured, with round and silky tannins through to a delicate hint of spice on the finish.
GRAPE VARIETY:
Merlot 100%.
