ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Established by Giovanni Carminucci in 1928, the Carminucci estate is now run by the founder’s son, Piero, who produces high-quality wines from organically farmed grapes. The 45 hectares of vines are grown between the municipalities of Offida and Grottammare and within famous, historic DOC territories of Rosso Piceno, Rosso Piceno Superiore, Falerio, Passerina and Pecorino DOCG. Yields are kept intentionally low, which, combined with a modern approach in the winery, results in a sought-after collection of wines that truly reflect the grape and the terroir. The wines are highly acclaimed in Italy, winning multiple Italian awards and offer outstanding value for money.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The grapes come from a single vineyard ‘Ciafone’ which is located in the Piceno area of the Falerio DOC, in the south of the Marche region. The vineyard is situated at an elevation of 200 to 300 metres above sea level, where it is gently influenced by sea breezes from the Adriatic Sea. A Mediterranean climate is found throughout the region, with an average annual rainfall of 800 millimetres, which falls mainly during the winter months, building soil water reserves to nourish the vines throughout the typically hot and dry summers. The rich clay content in the soil also helps to retain soil moisture. The vines are planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare and are trained using the simple curtain method. The vineyards are cultivated following organic principles; herbicides and pesticides are not used, and the grapes are manually harvested when they have reached optimal ripeness.

THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The hand-picked grapes were carefully selected, and each variety was vinified separately. The fruit was macerated for 12 hours to extract aromatics and flavours. The must was clarified through cold static decantation before being fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for a minimum of three months to showcase the terroir.

OUR TASTING NOTE:
A crisp, elegant blend with notes of ripe, golden apple leading to tropical hints of fresh pineapple. Dry, with lovely balance and a refreshing, mineral note on the finish.

GRAPE VARIETY:
Trebbiano 60%, Passerina 20%, Pecorino 20%.
