Description
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Cantina Bonacchi has been making fine Tuscan wines for three generations. The wines are produced from 40 hectares in the Chianti Montalbano area, as well as from 10 hectares divided between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. They also own 20 hectares in the Chianti Classico area. Modern technology and family expertise enable Bonacchi to offer excellent wines from their four estates in Tuscany.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The vines are cordon spur trained vines and are planted in marl and limestone soils. The grapes are harvested using traditional methods once they have reached optimal ripeness, ensuring top quality in the final product.
THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The Sangiovese grapes were manually harvested and were immediately transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Daily pumping over and rack and return techniques obtain delicate extraction of flavour, colour and tannins. Malolactic conversion followed fermentation spontaneously. The wine spent one year in stainless steel retaining the purity of fruit, before being decanted to a combination of large French oak barrels for between six to 12 months.
OUR TASTING NOTE:
A traditional Chianti showing aromas of cherry, blackberry and wild red fruits with delicate earthy and leather overtones. The palate is full and velvety, with harmonious balance through to a long finish.
GRAPE VARIETY:
Sangiovese 100%.
