ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
What a great concept – a Tour of the South of France – get out the vélo and let’s join the touriste-routiers! But why be part of the peloton when you can attack from the front, and make wine which really matters and offer wine lovers liberté de choix? Hence, among the delights on offer here is a beautiful Picpoul de Pinet – the fish wine, a vivacious Sauvignon Blanc, an elegant and wonderfully balanced Viognier, a smooth and becoming Pinot Noir and a deliciously juicy Merlot.

THE VINTAGE:
The winter of 2023-2024 was relatively mild, with no significant frost episodes, allowing for a good start to the growing cycle. Spring was mild and slightly warmer than average, promoting even flowering. A few regular rainfall events ensured sufficient, but not excessive, water supply, thus limiting the risk of disease. The summer, meanwhile, was marked by high temperatures but without prolonged heatwaves. Cool nights and some well-distributed rainfall helped preserve the acidity and freshness of the grapes, while promoting slow and steady ripening of the berries.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Gascony. This area has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, with the majority of rainfall occurring during the spring and autumn. Dry, continental winds from the northwest bring cooling influences to the vineyards, which help to reduce disease pressure. This wind is interspersed with warm winds from the south, which bring moisture to the vines. The combination of terroir and climate result in a fresh and expressive Sauvignon Blanc.

THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
Picked at aromatic maturity, the grapes were destemmed and crushed before undergoing a gentle pressing and cold settling of the juice. Fermentation took place with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at 18°C to maintain freshness and aromatic intensity. The wine was made in an unoaked style to showcase the vibrancy of the Sauvignon Blanc variety.

OUR TASTING NOTES:
Fresh and lively, this zesty Sauvignon Blanc is characterised by great aromatic intensity, with citrus notes of grapefruit and lime combined with exotic pineapple and passion fruit and a delicate herbal note on the finish.

GRAPE VARIETY:
Sauvignon Blanc 85%, Colombard 15%.
