Description
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
La Villaudière is owned by Jean-Marie Reverdy together with his sons Guillaume and Baptiste. Handed down through several generations, this family estate overlooks the pretty village of Verdigny. The unique location offers stunning views of the famous Sancerre Hill and its vineyards. Patience, perseverance and precision are the bywords of all those involved in La Villaudière. From the sustainable management of the HVE Level 3 certified vineyards to the production of the wines, the family continues to build on the foundations laid by the previous generations, which gives their wines a captivating blend of authenticity and modernity.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The vines are cultivated, using sustainable agricultural methods. The vineyard is certified HVE Level 3 which officially recognises the environmental performance of winegrowers, including biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategies, managed fertiliser use and water resource management. The vines selected for the wine are approximately 20 years old. Planted with an easterly exposure, ripening is slow and gradual. The vines are partially thinned in July to maintain good health throughout the growing cycle and obtain good maturity. 80% of the grapes are grown on a limestone terroir locally referred to as Caillottes.
THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
This delicate pale pink rosé was obtained 100% from direct pressing. After settling for 12 to 24 hours, the must was fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 15 -20°C. Following fermentation, the wine was racked to remove the first lees. Bottling was carried out in early in the year, in order to preserve freshness and bright acidity.
OUR TASTING NOTES:
This salmon pink rosé has a powerful bouquet that combines red berry fragrances of strawberry, cherry and redcurrant, with spicy nuances. Beautifully balanced freshness and smoothness are complemented by a lovely full character. The floral and fruity aromas nicely line the palate and the finish is light and long.
GRAPE VARIETY:
Pinot Noir 100%.
