ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Fox Gordon is a family run winery specialising in contemporary, premium and award winning wines from the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills. From a diverse selection of grape varieties, each bottle is the ultimate fusion of wine and fashion. Made using the Fox Gordon philosophy of low input and low yield to give maximum flavour, while preserving the inherent qualities of the fruit and the site; these stylish wines are modern, bright and vibrant. Fox Gordon has been named a five star winery by James Halliday six years in a row.
THE VINTAGE:
2017 saw a cool spring with a late budburst. The fruit set was excellent, which was followed by a warm summer and ideal ripening conditions, resulting in even ripening and high natural acidity.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
The Fox Gordon vineyards are situated on 60 hectares of breathtaking vineyard at Kuitpo Forest in the Adelaide Hills and overlooking the world famous McLaren Vale. Planted at altitude, the grapes are imbued with lovely cool-climate characteristics. The fruit for this wine is picked from an old single trellised vineyard, where the vines produce large plump berries.
THE WINEMAKING PROCESS:
The grapes were fermented for 10 days and then racked to tank for two weeks of lees work, to build texture and finish fermentation. The young wine was then aged in French oak puncheons imparting subtle oak character to the wine while still retaining the vibrancy of the fruit.
OUR TASTING NOTES:
A round and supple wine which delivers notes of fragrant red summer fruits, complemented by hints of gorgeous spice and subtle Dutch chocolate notes. A wine that is delightful and vibrant, yet sophisticated.
GRAPE VARIETY:
Tempranillo 100%.
